Blood Drive

diving into scripture: Fall bible study with rev. Abigail (ongoing)

Beginning on Monday, September 15th at 7pm: Meet in the Commons for this Fall Bible study series where we will go deeper into our Sunday texts and explore how and why we read Scripture. The study will continue to meet on Monday’s at 7pm until October 28th.

Wednesday, September 18th at 7pm: Learn about multilingual education with Patrick Hoeft, principal of D34’s Westbrook School; Raquel Kim, Assistant Superintendent for Multilingual Services; and literacy educators.

Friday, September 20th at 5:30pm: Enjoy music on GCC’s front lawn! This concert features the Kevin Kizer Jazz Quartet. Join us after the concert for an exciting collaboration with the Glenview Public Library.

Peace sunday

Sunday, September 22nd at 10am: Join us for a special worship service dedicated to peace, with an opportunity to collaborate with the Glenview Public Library as they work towards a community art installation centered around the theme of peace.

Inquiring members brunch

Sunday, September 22nd at 11:15am. Interested in learning more about membership at GCC? Join Rev. Jim, Rev. Abigail, and GCC lay leaders in the chapel after worship for refreshments and a chance to get to know GCC. Anyone interested in membership will be invited to officially be welcomed as a member during worship on October 13th. If you are interested in membership but cannot make it on the 22nd, reach out to Rev. Jim or Rev. Abigail.

“Butterflies and hummingbirds, Oh my!”: Pollinator gardening with tim pollak

Wednesday, September 25th at 7pm: Tim Pollak, Chicago Botanic Garden Manager of Plant Production, will come to GCC to discuss butterfly and hummingbird gardening. Tim manages the Garden greenhouses and is presenting this program unpaid as a fund-raiser for the Church of his childhood. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door.

Retirement Celebration for rev. dr. Bobbie mckay

Sunday, October 6th at 10am: Join us during worship and with a reception immediately following as we celebrate the retirement of Rev. Dr. Bobbie McKay from her years of ministry at Glenview Community Church and beyond.  The reception will include refreshments, a chance to honor the wide reach of Bobbie’s ministry, and the revealing of a portrait of Bobbie which will find its home at Glenview Community Church. If you wish to contribute to this retirement celebration you may do so via check to Glenview Community Church or giving a specified gift at this link (please denote “Bobbie McKay” on your check or electronic donation.)

northbrook Crop hunger walk

Sunday, October 6th at 1pm: The walk begins at Northfield Community Church. All are welcome to join our youth group as they walk for hunger. Join or support our GCC team here.

Wednesday, October 16th at 6:30pm: Hear from Sisters Pat Murphy and JoAnn Persch of Catherine’s Caring Cause, as they share about their experience as immigration advocates supporting asylum seekers in Chicago.

Friday, October 25th-27th: Middle and high school students are encouraged to join us for our Fall Youth Retreat to Tower Hill in Sawyer, MI. Cost is $175 per student. Register by October 4th.

Saturday, December 14th at 7pm: Join the Toys Choir, the Joyful Ringers and the Children’s Choirs for an unforgettable evening of holiday music and fun. This concert benefits the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots Program. This concert is free but please consider bringing a toy (or TOYS) to the concert to donate to the Marines and help make some child’s Christmas a little brighter.

Saturday, April 26th at 6pm: Based in Northbrook, members of Campanella Children’s Choirs came from diverse backgrounds, heritage, languages, and cultures. Join us for a program of classical and popular songs in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Ukrainian, Hebrew, and other languages. A free-will offering will be taken.

Saturday, May 17th at 7:30pm and Sunday, May 18th at 3pm: Join us for a wonderful program to close the 2024-25 season, featuring Johannes Brahms’s Requiem and Ola Gjeilo’s Dark Night of the Soul. Simple gifts concert series: Organ walk

Sunday, June 1st at 3pm: A walk (or drive) between four Glenview churches, featuring organists Chris Urban (guest organist, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church) Kirstin Synnestvedt (New Church), Rich Spantikow (St. David’s Church) and Gary Wendt (Glenview Community Church). We will begin at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 3pm and conclude around 5pm at GCC. A free-will offering will be taken to support Northfield Township Food Pantry.
